800 Meter Run
This race started once and was called back after about 100 meters due to lightning. After about an hour, they finally took the track again. After 400 meters, it was Buffalo's Nicholas Pitchford, Clay-Battelle's Chase Ammons, Doddridge's Trent Gola, Magnolia's Gavin Herrick, Wood County Christian's Michael Cline, and Doddridge's Carter Lipscomb. In the end, Ammons pulled away late for the win in 2:06.98. Cline made a big move in the last 100 to take 2nd in 2:08.26. Herrick scored 3rd in 2:09.61. Gola was 4th in 2:09.91. Lipscomb slipped past Pitchford for 5th in 2:10.61. Pitchford led until around 100 to go as he absolutely went for it on the 2nd lap. He held on for 6th in 2:10.77.
RunWV's Current Score: 19 of 24.

Magnolia's Brady Renner led the field through lap 1 in 1:07. Wheeling Central's Aidan Scott, Wood Country Christian's Michael Cline, Doddridge's Carter Lipscomb, Clay-Battelle's Chase Ammons, and Williamstown's Zach Cannon held the next 5 spots in a tight clump that saw them all at 1:08. After two laps, Scott had moved into the lead in 2:23 with Cline matching that time in 2nd. Lipscomb was in 3rd at 2:24 with Ammons matching that time in 4th. Doddridge's Trent Gola was in 5th at 2:25, and I think Richwood's Trey Stanley in 6th. After 3 laps, Scott and Cline had generated a small gap on the field with both at 3:37 but Scott in front. Ammons had moved into 3rd at 3:39. Lipscomb was in 4th at 3:40. South Harrison's Carter Bowie had moved into 5th at 3:41 with Gola matching that time in 6th. On the final lap, Scott made his move at about 150 meters to go and generated a gap and was able to maintain it down the stretch for the 1 second win in 4:42.32. Cline easily held 2nd in 4:43.42. Ammons used a strong last 100 to control 3rd in 4:45.80. Lipscomb just held the 4th spot in a tight race to the finish over Gola and Bowie with Lipscomb at 4:48.57, Gola at 4:48.81, and Bowie at 4:49.16.

At the end of 2 laps, Lipscomb had moved into the lead at 2:27 with Nardella and Skeens matching that time in 2nd and 3rd. Gola was in 4th at 2:28. Scott was in 5th also at 2:28 with Cline in 6th also at 2:28. After 3 laps, it was still Lipscomb in the lead at 3:45 with Skeens in 2nd at the same time. Scott had moved into 3rd at 3:46 with that time matched by Gola and Cline in 4th and 5th. Nardella was in 6th at 3:47. At the halfway point, it was still Lipscomb still in the lead at 5:04. Scott was in 2nd at 5:05 with that time matched by Gola, Skeens, and Cline in 3rd through 5th. Nardella remained in 6th at 5:08. On lap 5, Scott moved into the lead at 6:25. Lipscomb matched that time in 2nd. Cline had moved into 3rd at 6:26 with Gola matching that time in 4th. Skeens was in 5th at 6:28. I think Richwood's Trey Stanley had moved into 6th. On lap 6, Lipscomb moved back into the lead at 7:47 with Scott matching that time in 2nd. Gola and Cline were in 3rd and 4th just 1 second back as those four had gapped the field. Skeens was still in 5th at 7:53 with Stanley in 6th at 7:54. On lap 7, things really started to get interesting. With 700 to go, Scott moved into the lead. With 675 to go, Lipscomb moved into the lead. With 640 to go, Gola moved into the lead. With 600 to go Scott moved back to the front. With 490 to go, Lipscomb moved back into the lead. Stanley had moved into 5th at 9:16 with Skeens in 6th at 9:18. The fun continued on the final lap with Scott moving into the lead with 350 to go. At 270 to go, Lipscomb moved back into the front. At about 180 to go, Scott shot forward and generated a gap of about 5 meters that would stretch to maybe close to 10. Lipscomb and Cline responded, but slightly delayed. Down the stretch, Lipscomb continually closed and finally made the pass with about 30 meters to go to snag the win in 10:11.60. Scott was 2nd in 10:11.88. Cline scored 3rd in 10:12.96. Those three all closed in under 63 seconds. Gola couldn't match the final move but easily held 4th in 10:17.63. Stanley held the 5th spot in 10:29.38. Skeens was 6th in 10:33.03.

300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles
Ritchie's Gus Morrison won a tight one over East Hardy's Bryce Tharp as each went under 40 seconds with Morrison scoring a 39.58 and Tharp at 39.91. It was actually closer than that as Tharp checked up just a bit heading into the last hurdle. Williamstown's Malachi Stewart was 3rd in 41.36 with Ritchie's Creed Knight in 4th at 41.77. Greenbrier West's Kaiden Pack was 5th in 43.11, and Tyler Consolidated's Austin Timmons was 6th in 43.59.
RunWV's Current Score: 39 of 48.

4x100 Meter Relay

Doddridge took the lead on leg one, followed by Tyler Consolidated, Tygarts Valley, and St. Marys. At the end of leg 2, it was Doddridge at 1:50. St. Marys was in 2nd at 1:52. Williamstown was up to 3rd at 1:53. Tyler Consolidated was 4th at 1:54, followed closely by Wirt at the same time. Tygarts Valley was in 6th at 1:55. After three legs, it was still Doddridge in command at 2:46. St. Marys remained in 2nd at 2:49 with Williamstown at 2:50, Tyler Consolidated at 2:51, Wirt at 2:52, and Magnolia at 2:53. On the final leg, it remained the Doddridge team of Brennan Miller, Jaycent Ash, Elisha Galagar, and Seth Richards at the front and taking the win in 3:42.00. St. Marys came in on top of a very close race for 2nd in 3:43.42. Williamstown was 3rd in 3:43.82 with Tyler Consolidated 4th in 3:43.91. Wirt was 5th in 3:48.37. Magnolia was 6th in 3:49.05.
RunWV's Current Score: 54 of 66.

4x800 Meter Relay
Doddridge had a slight lead at the end of leg 1 with tehm and Ritchie coming through at 2:09. Wirt was in 3rd at 2:12. Buffalo was in 4th at 2:13. Magnolia was in 5th at 2:14. Charleston Catholic was in 6th at 2:15. After two legs, Ritchie had moved to the front at 4:16. Doddridge was in 2nd at 4:20. Magnolia was up to 3rd in 4:25. Buffalo and Wirt were both at 4:28 in 4th and 5th, respectively. I think it was Madonna in 6th. After three legs, Doddridge was back in front at 6:32. Ritchie was in 2nd at 6:35. Magnolia was in 3rd at 6:36. I'm not sure after that. On the final leg, Magnolia got an excellent run from Gavin Herrick to make up the gap and win a battle to the finish over Doddridge to give the Magnolia group of Sam Zombotti, Brady Renner, Trevor Williamson, and Gavin Herrick the win in 8:40.93 to Doddridge's 8:41.35. Ritchie was a solid 3rd in 8:47.45 as only those three made it in under 9:00. Buffalo took the 4th spot in 9:02.84. Wirt was 5th in 9:05.43. Madonna took 6th in 9:13.04.
RunWV's Current Score: 58 of 72.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Ritchie's unit of Ethan Haught, Creed Knight, Marlon Moore, and Bruce Moyer scored the close win in 1:01.96, just holding off the late push of East Hardy, who finished in 1:02.08. Petersburg was 3rd in 1:05.44 with Doddridge 4th in 1:05.75. Those two battled each other in the 3rd Heat and parlayed it into top 4 finishes. Paden City was 5th in 1:05.82 and Magnolia was 6th in 1:06.69. One of my predicted placers got hit with a False Start.
RunWV's Current Score: 63 of 78.

High Jump
Magnolia's Gavin Postlethwait cleared 6'2 to win it by 4". There was a 3-way tied for 2nd between Buffalo's David Whittington, Tyler Consolidated's Hadyn Brown and Sherman's Dalton Rollo. Doddridge's Nathan Hart cleared 5'8 for 5th. And like in the girls pole vault, the starting height was set too high, and only 5 competitors cleared the opening height again robbing someone of a State Meet medal.
RunWV's Current Score: 67 of 84.

Pole Vault
Doddridge's Reese Burnside became a 3-time champion by clearing 13'6. He took a couple shots at the State Meet Record at 15'0.25 but was unable to clear the height on this day. Ritchie's Kodi Camp was the only other vaulter to clear 12'0 in taking 2nd. Doddridge's Kaden Smith and St. Marys' Tre Moss both cleared 11'6 with Smith taking 3rd and Moss 4th. Buffalo's Gunner Fertig was 5th at 11'0. Doddridge's Seth Richards and Ritchie's Ethan Haught tied for 6th at 10'6.
RunWV's Current Score: 73 of 90.

Long Jump
Ritchie's Gus Morrison only had one legal jump in the competition, but it was a good one, sailing 21'4.25 and it was enought to take the win. I'm told it was a "safety" jump after fouling his first two attempts and that he left about 8" behind the board. Doddridge's Reese Burnside went 20'7 to take 2nd. Ritchie's Graden McKinney made it interesting on his last attempt, but it was 20'6.75, and he had to settle for 3rd. Petersburg's Jacob Perez was 4th at 19'11.75. South Harrison's Parker Bunch was 5th at 19'7.75. East Hardy's Nevin Good snagged the last spot on his final jump with a 19'6.75.
RunWV's Current Score: 77 of 96.

Shot Put
Ritchie's Kaleb Cole took the win with a toss of 47'6.50, winning by nearly 4 feet. St. Marys' Ty Watkins was 2nd with a 43'9. Petersburg's Aedan Lott was 3rd just behind with a 43'8.75. Doddridge's Adam Burnside scored 4th with a 42'7. Wahama's Adam Gerlach was 5th with a 41'5.25. Paw Paw's Dalton Kasekamp was 6th with a 41'3.
RunWV's Current Score: 82 of 102.

Discus
There was a lot of movement late in this one. St. Marys' Aaron Stull was not part of that movement. He was in 1st after the preliminaries and maintained that throughout with a toss of 138'3. It got really interesting after that. On throw 5, Ritchie's Kaleb Cole moved into 2nd only to have Doddridge's Adam Burnside take it back on his 5th throw. On the final round of throws, Wahama's Rowen Gerlach moved from 7th to 5th. Then Tucker's Tate Mullenax after being pushed back to 7th improved his mark and moved back to to 6th. Then Richwood's Josh Landreth who had just been pushed back to 7th improved his mark by over 8' to move from 7th all the way to 2nd. But one throw later, Cole added to his mark to moved from 4th to 2nd. That left us with our final tally of Stull in first at 138'3, Cole in 2nd at 136'3, Landreth in 3rd at 135'8, Burnside in 4th at 135'1, Ritchie's Anthony Rader in 5th at 132'4, and Gerlach in 6th at 128'4.
RunWV's Current Score: 87 of 108.

The final score of 87 of 108 means that 80.6 % of the people picked to place did indeed place. Congratulations to those that proved me wrong.
